The Berlin stadium, built originally for the 1936 Olympic Games, is currently home to the 1st Bundesliga premier club Hertha Berlin, it is also the venue for the annual German premier league Cup Final. The Stadium has recently undergone a complete reconstruction and modernisation project. This huge restoration and transformation work began in the summer of 2000 and the opening ceremony took place four years later on July 31st. As a result, the Olympic Stadium sports today an altogether impressive, futuristic . During the World Cup, this completely refurbished, and listed, Olympic Stadium will host four group matches, one quarterfinal and the Final will be played in Berlin.
